Disrespects is a Halifax-based DJ, visual creative, and the force behind Sauna, a rave series dedicated to carving out space for underground talent catered to queers and allies ONLY. While usually spinning rotations of driving house, techno, and trance, his collection goes much wider. Gliding between pushing tempo at 3 AM or setting a laid-back daytime boogie, his approach to selecting is simple: it has to feel good, pack an undeniable rhythm, and make you want to shake your butt.
Over the last few years, he’s brought that sound across the Atlantic Canada’s most notable stages. From playing Future Forest Festival to closing out Halifax Pride’s "The Bump" two years running, and taking over the Halifax Citadel Moat for Vibrancy Fest.
What sets his parties apart is a deep understanding of atmosphere. With over ten years of experience in visual media production, he treats Sauna the same way he treats a visual project. Pacing, building tension, and delivering a payoff. He fully curates the lineups, desigs all of the flyers and dials in the lighting, all accumulating to a fully immersive & hypnotic dance release experience.
